Lisa lives and works in France, as a painter and photographer. Her fascination with the development and cultural history of colour is a large part of her current work. Through her research she has gained knowledge and skills in colour ‘paint making; and the work in this collection is all created from natural pigments. She uses a variety of products such as stone, chalk, ochre, saffron and gold leaf. She uses predominately mineral pigments for their longevity and each painting is finished with a vegetable based fixative in order to ‘fix’ the pigments.
Her knowledge, expertise and talent in this area means that her reputation is growing and has recently led her to become the Artist in Residence at ‘The museum of Ochre’ – the site of France’s first commercially exploited ochre mine in 1571.
Using the natural resources around us Lisa is truly an environmental artist, creating inspiring, imaginative and beautiful work from nature.
