Yaka is the signature collection of Josée Coquelin, a French designer using both new and traditional applied glass techniques, to make jewellery and objects d’art. Yaka takes pleasure working with simple designs and experimenting with new textures and inclusions, drawing inspiration from her travels and her experiences of new cultures.
In her work Yaka uses a combination of sand, volcanic lava, granite, gold leaf, silver, copper and other precious metals, which she fires at 800˚ for up to 18 hours. Each piece is an individual creation, completely unique.
As well as her jewellery and home collection, Yaka also works as a sculptor exhibiting in galleries in France, Europe and Internationally. She also regularly works on site-specific installations, including historical monuments and parks.
