Christmas in the summertime
Christmas comes earlier every year is a phrase that is muttered by people every year – usually from those listening to Perry Como and wearing knitted jumpers, and rose tinted glasses. Well it’s certainly true for us here at Julianna Grove Presents as we are currently working on our Christmas collection and the sun is shining bright, the days are light for hours and people are getting sunburnt, here in Scotland!
To help make it all a little more surreal we decided to create a summer play list so that whilst we’re researching and emailing Christmas stock orders we’re listening to some cool summer vibes.
Our favourites so far are:
Mungo Jerry – In the summertime
Roy Ayers - Everybody Loves the Sunshine
Beach Boys – Good Vibrations (well anything by these guys really)
B52’s – Love shack
Loving Spoonful - summer in the City
We’ve still got a lot of work to do for the Christmas collection so any other suggestions for our summer play list would be greatly appreciated. Send us an email or post a reply with your suggestions – there’s a little treat for the person who sends us our favourite suggestion.
Cheers,
from the tanned and smiling team at Julianna Grove Presents, who are currently singing along to Summer Breeze by the the Isley Brothers….

Not necessarily summer tunes, but all beat the hell out of watching minority sports (like football or curling).
“Strawberry Jam” (album) by Animal Collective
“Easy Does It” (on “Lie Down In The Light” album) by Bonnie Prince Billy
“A Man Needs A Woman Or A Man To Be A Man” (on “Woke On A Whaleheart” album) by Bill Calahan
“With Lasers” (album) by Bonde Do Role
If all this is too twee I’ve got millions more.

Barbie Girl (TF Long Version) - Electric Chairs - Not the Aqua original and a world better.
Sun King - Beatles - ‘cos someone was singing it this weekend.
Something for the Weekend - Divine Comedy - memories of a summer.
Gomez - Get Myself Arrested - The soundtrack to watching scallies.
Breathe - Open Door - Remix of Pink Floyd for them lazy days.
The Light 3000 - Schneider TM vs. KPT. michi.gan - Uber electro cover of The Smiths “A Light that never goes out”…amazing!
Land of Sunshine - Faith No More - Aggressive summer goodness.
Unlike 2007 I’m hoping this won’t be my complete summer soundtrack…
